binding ties

15 April 2018 by Jason

the sun is an old man
who wobbles in the sky.
falling asleep on a red pillow
until the world turns black.

raging again in the bloody morning
beaten blue and purple
how angry is the night.
how volatile the mourning.
how terrible the dawning light.

the evaporation of hope.
the deepening despair
of a world forgotten how to care.
lambs driven to the lion’s lair.

the world turning like a worm.
the constricted chest.
the tightening noose.
the binds that tie.
we watch the world die.

On Poetry

To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best day and night to make you like everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight and never stop fighting.
E.E. Cummings
