autumnal riches.
the glimmering gold of sun.
my life’s rich delight.

the bountiful earth
with green plants medicinal.
and they burn them down.

the thick, soupy sky.
swimming amongst burning trees.
the world gone to flame.

upon the slate pond.
gulls like wooden whitewashed boats.
mirror of heaven.

on the brown cardboard
i see god’s smirk in the sun.
joke’s always on us.

your face is my face.
your big brown eyes see clearly.
