the lithe body
curled up beside me.
a meowing yawn.

the arc is shallow
and disappears too quickly.
lazy tired sun.

the hungry fat cat
stretches out furry belly.
play me like a fool.

the crispy cool fall
whips around my stockinged feet.
nipping at ankles.

the hummingbird’s wings
sit on molecules of air.
the nectar so sweet.

the long velvet neck
carries the majestic crown.
not to be mounted.
