faking it white again

9 November 2016 by Jason

on this day
democracy wears no clothes.

the people
are weary and frightened.

and fear
has led them to the cliff.

and their choice
will take them over.

justice
has been battered.

equality
bruised and bloody.

farewell decency

for today they make america white again.

and tomorrow
the sickness spreads.

sometimes you get what you ask for.

and ignorance has asked
like a scared toddler
for a monster to hold its hand.

and monsters feed
on children.

On Poetry
