man down

20 March 2018 by Jason

the dust settles
full of the weight of violence.

wet metal on the air.
the smell of death everywhere.

the earth parched
drinks deeply from this red stream.

bipedal hairless apes
with sticky bloody violent dreams.

the last statue dead
crumbling on the ground.

red graffiti almost a sound
that echos from the violent mound.

sudan’s last stand
representative of man’s bloodstained hand.

smaller now
this dusty rock.

vicious still
with man’s ill will.

To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best day and night to make you like everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight and never stop fighting.
