through the forest and the trees

3 February 2015 by Jason

you suck in the air.
i hear the drawing breath
it’s taken with care.

this life you’ve been living.
the journeys you’ve taken
the fate you’ve been given.

you’re skin soft as cream.
the topography of years
written on your face like a dream.

the twang of the sinew.
the vibration of consciousness
the song that’s within you.

the world we’ve been looking for.
through the thorns and bushes
looking behind closed doors.

my friend and my lover.
you’ve come to me for cover
and i’ll hold onto you forever.

To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best day and night to make you like everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight and never stop fighting.
