fragile is the snow.
melting softly towards earth.
kisses cold and wet.
toothy grin
i taste the sweet air.
sharp as tart cherries in spring.
red of tooth and maw.
years unfurled
we have lost a lot.
life’s highway full of robbers.
yet richer for it.
immured in winter
a scab on the road.
caked hard from many traumas.
winter’s violence.
bloody leaves
the leaves of the trees
are soft green like forest frogs.
before they bleed off.
